It is not and that's what tear gland is doing for the eyes.

No...think give or take a few it...this surface is in direct contact beside the outside world...the air, your finger, etc. Not sterile, but I'll bet it is great at combating infection!
For adjectives intents, the outer part of the eye is sterile. Tears do contains some brackish, which is not that important, but they also contain IgA. IgA prevents microbes from adhering to the surface keeping your eye infection free.
So, surrounded by reality, at hand is very little surrounded by our body that is sterile (blood, CSF etc..) practically speaking though, close satisfactory :)
it is sterile or after every month you would have to be need to change eyes plus i would resembling to tell cogplasma that sterile resources without germs and as far as i know salt is no type of germs :)
